Steel prices increased 1.2 percent from August to September, according to the latest Producer Price Index issued by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Concrete prices remained unchanged, while asphalt was down 0.4 percent and lumber declined 1.1 percent. 

Over the last 12 months, steel is up 13.8 percent, asphalt rose 5.1 percent, and lumber increased 7.2 percent. Concrete prices declined 0.8 percent over the same period.
